Winter Words Festival in Pitlochry

We are lucky to have an active community in Pitlochry. Various events are organised throughout the year and are open to all. Right now, although we are busy preparing for Christmas and the New Year holiday guests, we have just had some information sent through to us about the Winter Words Festival. Now in its 5th year, this literary affair will take place in Pitlochry from the 22nd to the 25th January 2009.
Be sure to book your accommodation early as this will coincide with the 250th anniversary Burns celebrations in the town. The big names at the festival this year range from Janice Galloway, Nell Nelson, Paul Murton to Julia Donaldson. Tickets can be obtained through the Pitlochry Festival Theatre box-office on 01796 484626 now. It looks set to be a literary weekend to remember.

Pitlochry Hogmanay Breaks

Pitlochry is a beautiful place to visit over the winter months as well as in summertime. This is especially true this year with the snow covered hills creating a picture postcard back-drop to the town.

With the Autumn festivals over, us folks in Pitlochry are gearing up for the New Year’s day ceilidh. It began in the year 2000 to celebrate the Millenium and has quickly become an annual tradition. At Knockendarroch House we have created a special Hogmanay break to make the most of everything Pitlochry and Perthshire can offer over the New Year – good food, good company, scenic views, log fires, parlour games, fine wines and supper with drink toasts to take in the Bells – and this doesn’t even touch upon our dinner menu.
